Today it is 11 june 2007. I have not written this diary long time. Many things happened, good and bad, happy and sad...

On Volkan´s birthday, we celebrated 2 times. On 23 May 2007 (wednesday), only father, mother and Volkan :) with simple ´ready´ cake. That´s nice. Volkan also could blow the candle.... but he didn´t do in real occasion, only in every rehearsal :)))

The other celebration was on 27 May 2007 (sunday) where father´s relatives also came. There were Sukriye (buyuk) Yenge and  Ufuk Amca & Aysen yenge. They brought Volkan cool jean pantalon & t-shirt. Other relatives, Buyuk anaanne, Ünal (buyuk) Dayı, Behije (buyuk) yenge, Duygu Hala & Kutlu abi. From Buyuk anaanne, Volkan received money... hehehe secret, big amount for him surely ;). From Dayı´s family Volkan got ´komik kamyon´ color yellow/green. Cool also. Thank you to all people...

There were special guests we invited. Emine Teyze & Atakan Amca. They brought Volkan cool oyuncak of playdooh :) Thank Alot. Other people who didn´t come on pazar günü ( cos they didn´t know when the time of celebration) but came on monday were Zeynep teyze and his son, Emre Civan. Volkan received cool esofman from them. Thank you and sorry for misunderstanding about time...

That´s all about birthday as long as I remembered.

Other event, on 9 june 2007 where workplace of Volkan´s father celebrated its 5 year. We all went to ´orman´near Alemdağ ( I don´t know the correct place name). It´s cool place, remind me to Bandung´s  suburb area. We played-ate-played-ate.....  At the end, when we were about to go home, accident happened. Volkan who was really so active, kept on walking here and there, until... on the small stones ground area he felt down :(. His front head tore... blood got out so much... Oh my God I felt like dying to see my beloved son got terrible accident (in my idea). That scarry event ended... after we got to Dunya Hastanesi (sarıgazı?) and Volkan got 1 dikiş (sewn?). Thank alot to Fatih bey who accompanied us with his car. Also to Emine Abla and Mustafa Abi who also came along with us.

Thank you also to all  Erksoft people who are so kind and helpful. We really had nice time there generally. Success for Erksoft as always...

Based on milestone on Babycenter´s website, What Volkan has been doing is fine, even very good :). Thank God. He is almost 11 month now. He could ´speak´ much more. Even with several tone, from little tone like civciv till screaming. Waw :). He also has had own courage to start walking alone in long distance since 14 April 2007. That´s an important milestone. I am happy and confused... Yes, since he can walk fast, even too fast that made him felt down.

Yesterday, when we went Kadıköy and stayed in center park facing Haydarpaşa, he was busy trying to catch a bird :). So funny...because he concerned to one bird with full focus, till... finally he lost of balance and got down on his knee and face on ground :(. But he is strong boy :D.

He also mastered climbing up sofa and getting down well :). Many times he did and he is happy everytime to do that. If he failed, he would sound disappointed. Screamed.

Besides all, he mostly understood what we told him, though he did not always do what we warned/told him. example: ´don´t drop the thing´. He will also nod his head, then drop the thing he held...

Yes, it is a hard job for a mother and anybody around him. But, surely I am happy to see my beloved son is growing well, healthy and active. Praise the LORD.

Milestone charts: What you can expect from birth to age 3
Last updated: September 2006
By the BabyCenter editorial staff

Babies grow in such unique ways: The baby who sits up weeks before her peers might be one of the last to learn how to crawl. Or the 18-month-old who's still communicating with grunts and gestures suddenly bursts forth with prepositional phrases at 2 years. That's why we created this series of charts.
Since babies aren't identical — thank goodness! — the charts allow for variations in stages of development. Use them to gain insight into what you're observing in your baby today and to preview what you can look forward to in the months ahead.
One thing you shouldn't use the charts for, however, is grist for the worry mill. Each chart is meant as a guide, not as a source of concern.
For information about particular milestones, click on the links below or head to the baby, toddler, or preschooler development pages

Bugün ben, anne ve baba gezdik. Havada biraz rüzgar vardı ama iyiydi. Güneş de vardı.

Biz pazara gittik. Orada sebzeler (pırasa, salatalık falan) ve meyve (elma) aldık. Pazar çok kalabalık. Otururken pusetde sadece baktım.

Sonra biz parka gittik. Abiler topu oynadılar, daha küçük çocuklar kaydırak kaydılar. Ben de kaydıraktan kaydım. Hoşuma gitti. Başka, salıncak oynadım.

Daha sık dışarı çıkmak, bence daha iyi. Çok seviyorum :). Ben de şimdi daha iyi yürüyebilirim. Çok mutluyum :).

from babycenter site it´s mentioned that 9 months 3 weeks baby, as follows:

You're probably noticing that your blossoming baby is learning different ways to express himself emotionally. He's also becoming more social day by day. A few of his favorite new tricks: clapping, especially when pleased or delighted, as during play; waving bye-bye; pointing, as if to indicate what he wants or when he sees something new and interesting; shrieking loudly to attract your attention; laughing at silly sounds and expressions; crying in a specific tone to convey a particular "request." (You'll quickly recognize this whine-like, goal-oriented cry, which also tends to stop immediately when he gets what he wants.)
Although some of these developments are bound to be more enchanting than others, you should be proud that your baby is becoming so versatile at expressing himself. They all represent his ability to put together a physical feat with an emotional meaning — a pretty impressive connection.

Yes, Volkan has been doing all of them :)) congratulation for my healthy growing baby. Thank God for Thy blessings.

Other things that Volkan (still) likes to do:
-turn his body while walking (by holding sofa) --- yah tht always made my heart seemd stop beating cos of worry.
-bite things...and saliva keep :(
-talk ´nyi nyi...´and ´sing´along... and create sound using pacifier when about to sleep ´yai yai yai...´

Ah btw, on 1 march his right-up teeth got out. so he has 2 and almost a half teeth now :))))

Az kaldı, evet çok az kaldı, ben neredeyse yürüyebilirim :). Ama... evet, ben biraz korkuyorum. Ben de zıplayabiliyorum :). Dün sabah ben koltuktan zıplamak istedim, ama annem kızdı. Niye??? Galiba anne biraz endişelendi ;).

Bugün biz (ben, babaannem ve annem) sağlık ocağına gittik. Hib ve hepatit aşısı oldum. Orada, merdiven vardı. Ben yukarı asağı yürüdüm (annemle beraber). çok hoşuma gitti.

Sağlık ocağından sonra biz parkta oynadık. çok komik :).

Umarım, dışarıya daha sık çıkabilirim.

This week, weather mostly cloudy but fine. Everyday I stayed home with Volkan, except on 16 Feb we went to the park. There were swing, ´jungkat-jungkit´,´serodotan´,´gantungan´, etc. And, Volkan tried swing. He was confused. Then we moved to ´horse shape metal´toy. He liked it. He also liked to explore plantation, ways, ground, when we were on way to the park and back. I guessed he will be an outdoor person :) just like me (originally :( )

By the way, at home, everyday Volkan likes to cruise each room by holding the furnitures. This is the time to learn walking. About eating, I don´t worry much cos he likes almost everyfood. bread with olive oil, vegetables soup (spinach and carrot. Now added with liver or meat), baby biscuit, of course. I like too :))). I hope I can make him learn more and more...for his better improvements in the future.

In one moody time, I feel past time is nicer for me. But when my mind digged the file of pasttime, I realize I was not satisfied in that moment. I remember, I wanted to run away from working activity, I wanted to roam, I wanted to be someone I couldn´t be.

Why the time seems not to match with what I want? Was it because I didn´t count the Blessings God has given everyday? I still could see the rain, the sunshine, the flowers, the beautiful views... I still could breath, walk, work... And... Yes I am still alive.

When I was younger, it´s easy to runaway from boring daily life. Daydreaming of every nice thing . Without burden, without scares. Time surely passing constantly, but I was not bothered.

Getting older, I am scared to daydream, cos it just a time wasting. I am scared to runaway from daily activities, cos I have to be responsible to my own little family now. I am tired, but I can not stop or just dissapear. Am I wiser now, or my young heart is vanishing away?

I don´t know. I just have a prayer written by one wise man... that match with my life : God, give me the wideheart to accept the things I couldn´t change; to change the things I could...and the wisdom to know the difference.

God bless us.

Yes, I am 8 month 4 week now. Next 23 Feb I will be 9 months.

Many things I like to do, i.e dropping things down on the floor :) I know mother sometimes feels ´aarrrgghhh´ to see how often I dropped things. But I really enjoyed it. I also like to ´cruise´ across the room, crawl (though, not much fun. I prefer to walk with parent´s hands as support), mess with father´s cd/dvd game collections :D, climb on sofa, hit tables/heater/anything with my open hands (for this the fun is the sound result from banging them), clap my hands, and etc. Yah, my head also often got hit to floor, door, table and so on. But, that´s the risk for being active baby...

I love to be here with mommy and daddy. They are funny and rather childish :). Several times I saw them jump-jump in front of tv. Yea.. they are playing ps2 game with eyetoy camera ha ha ha. But that´s better than having ´old fashioned´ parents whose commands just like God´s order he he.

Mommy said that on summer she would take me out more often. I am impatient to explore outside. Okay... see u in other topic.

2006-05-26  (baby has arrived)

Finally Baby arrived .... Huuurrraaaaayyyyy Praise The Lord

Our beloved Son KIVANÇ VOLKAN AKYOL
was born on : 23 May 2006, Tuesday  at  2.24 pm
Weight        : 3.54 Kgs
Length         : 51 Cms

Details of birth:
On 23 May 2006 at 1.00 A.M I went for pee and found the blood discharge on my pant. I woke my husband and my husband woke his mother (who was ´in charge´in our home in case I must go hospital during my husband´s work time). She said not to worry since the process till baby arrived wiould be longer time. So we continued sleeping.

In the morning at about 06.15 am my husband, his mother and I went to hospital. As we arrived we directly went to usual maternity/pregnancy  division while I sent sms thru my handphone to my doctor. Then a nurse took me to room and called ´in duty doctor´to check me (   I would not forget how the doctor checked me rudely.. or was it usual internal examination in early labor? ) I was 3 cms dilated so the nurse took me to the room (there were 1 bed, 1 baby´s bed, 1 sofa, 1 chair). I layed on bed, and waiting my husband who took care of administration things.  My feeling was mixed.

Not so long time another nurse came to check my blood pressure. It was 90/60 so she brought me 1 bag of glukose liquid and it was hooked at my hand. She also took my blood. After the glukose finished, another infusion bag was given to me (which I knew later that the serum was for fasten the contractions). The NST machine also were hooked at my stomach in regular time. So far my baby´s heart rate was stable at range 125 - 140 while my contraction was getting often and higher when time went on .

At about 8 am a midwife (? here it was called Ebe) came to check my dilation still 3 cms... and she broke my water to fasten my Junior´s way to the canal... she said after doing that.

At about 10 a.m my doctor came to my room to see my condition for a while. Then at about 12 o´clock another Ebe came to check my dilation... still 3 cms, whereas my contraction was getting unbereable for me...  (Yah... I cried after knew there was not progress upon my dilation while contraction was getting worse).

At 1 p.m doctor came and talk to us about no progress and C-section option to avoid a baby had problem. So we agreed. What a new wierd and scarry experience for me. I never had surgery in my own country...and I would have it in foreign country.

On around 1.30 p.m nurses took me to surgery room. My doctor has been there...  While nurses put every machine/monitor used for operation, she asked if I am ready. No other option just said yes and I also added, I trusted her (I prayed God everything would be fine. Thanks to God...everything was really fine).

At almost 3 p.m I was delivered to my room with half-aware condition...but I remembered what I asked nurses during the way to my room.... ´is my boy healthy´? ( my husband asked what I remembered when I was half aware... and he was touched to realize I remembered what I asked)

Huurraaaayyy my Junior has been there waiting me... though unfortunately there was no milk yet from my breasts

I went back home at 24 May 2006 evening after doctor checked I was fine and stable....

Now here we are.. with 3 days old wonderful baby boy... my Volkan . I feel wonderful to have a baby of my own.. though... I never thought abt this before.

Thank You Heavenly Father.. to give us chance to grow up Your wonderful creature.

2006-05-22  (40 weeks)
Week 40 (Monday, 22 May 2006)

What a hot day.... It makes me feel sleepy while feeling how heavy my belly is .  Yah it´s week 40. I wish for a baby to come within this week... naturally. Btw what is happening with me and my baby?

Fetal Development:
The last week (or is it?). The average size newborn is 7.5 pounds and 20 inches long. At this point, most of the vernix is gone, 15% of the body is fat and the chest sticks out.

Maternal Changes:
This may seem like a long week. Keep in mind that your baby's due date is only an estimate, and every baby is born in its own time. Be good to yourself and try to relax. You're not actually "post-due" until you hit 42 weeks. Just think about the poor elephant who is pregnant for 23 months!

Lastnite I couldn´t sleep well. My belly seemed to press me a lot. Moving the positions side to side made me feeling worse. I was worried I would squeeze my baby too hard. Also,  I felt slightly contractions (???) but I was too sleepy to time them. I just could wake for drinking or toilet. Today my day is calm and silent. I feel a bit cramps at my back and bottom. I am curiously waiting for wednesday appointment.

See you soon, my Junior

No Baby Yet (21 May 2006)

Today my husband and I went to doctor again.... The NST report is not much different than last thursday. Baby heart rate is stable (abt 120) and my contraction is still mild.  Junior is very active during NST ( he is also active everyday ). Meanwhile amniotic fluid amount is abit more than before. From internal exam, it´s found the cervix is still closed.

Doctor asked me to come on Wednesday 24 May 2006 (i/o tuesday) to see progress. She told me to come immediatelly if there is: bleeding, strong pain, decreasing movement of baby and any discharge. If until wednesday there is nothing happened, on Thursday we will try to stimulate contraction and try to ´make baby go out during next week´.

I feel nothing...perhaps a bit dissapointed. But, yah God knows the best for my baby and each of us. Maybe I was too much ´if this if that...´ creating my own scenarios, while in other hand telling ´up to God´.

I also feel more sensitive I guess and I am having problem with my husband´s family side recently. And the feeling is very uncomfortable.  God help me please & give me strength to overcome the problems.

My Junior... you are welcomed anytime .

2006-05-19  (39 weeks)
When you will be coming, my Junior?? (Friday, 19 May 2006)

Yesterday My husband and I went to doctor for usual weekly check-up. I was hooked to the same NST machine and found the baby heart rate is 120 (stable since previous weeks). Meanwhile my contraction rate was still mild.

Then, in usg the details of my junior were : weight abt 3.69 kgs  (yea.. big enough...no wondered I feel harder in breathing), BPD= 9.34 cms and amniotic fluid, according to doctor, is still normal/enough though it´s decreased alot since baby is big. Baby head position´s has been ready for vaginal delivery and about to enter canal (?). She asked me to be back on Sunday 21 May 2006 (as original due date) for further examination. She also said if nothing happened till Sunday, she would give me medicine for ´creating´ contraction on Tuesday, 23 May 2006.

Yea my Junior,  I see you are ready...You have been ready... but your Mama seems not ready yet. The cervix effacement has not been happening yet... Aaarrggghhh... what went wrong with me???? I am used to take a walk regularly and far enough. Hmmm...yeah I admit I am nervous and scared as well as excited. I really hope something will be happening till Sunday... I want my baby to come soon. God please... help me....

39 weeks !!! (15 May 2006)

Dear my Junior,

You have been 39 weeks now. Nites are more difficult for mama to sleep well you are most active in the middle of nites. But it´s okay I love you.

Let´s see what the news of being 39 weeks:

Fetal Development:
Most of the lanugo is gone as the baby prepares for its final womb days. The lungs are maturing and surfactant production is increasing.
The baby can't move too much anymore as its womb space has become very crowded.
The average size baby is over seven pounds at this point.

Maternal Changes:
Are you feeling huge and clumsy? As the baby settles into your pelvis (lightening), your center of gravity shifts which may make you feel off-balance. The good news is, the uterus isn't pressing on your diaphragm so it's easier to breathe. The bad news is, your uterus is pushing on your bladder so you may be running to the bathroom every two minutes.
Your uterus is 6 1/2 to 8 inches above your navel!

I don´t feel ´lightening´ yet... I actually wish you will be coming this weekend, my Junior. It seems on friday is national holiday and your papa will be off work. Our ´scenario´ was... you will be born on friday so your papa will have additional days to cuddle you( he planned to take his rest on-leave about a week once you are born).. I hope God will approve our scenario .

2006-05-14  (38 weeks)
It´s said 6days remaining (Sunday, 14 May 2006)

Happy mother´s day for everyone ....

( Though my own mother had passed away on 22 dec 2004. Yea, a sad story since I really wanted to share stories about my pregnancy and her 3rd grandchildren will be. Today my husband and I went to Boshporus boğazı and ´gave´ beautiful bluerose and red-white carnations flower for her thru this sea, since she was cremated and her ashes were poured in Java sea...  It´s a emotional moment and I wish she is fine in the eternity... )

Dear My Junior.. I still wondered when you will be showing up in this world. The pregnancy journal mentioned it´s 6 days left (yea... I know due date is not an exact date at all) ...but I even have not felt noticable constractions yet at all. I hope everything will go on naturally. Frankly I am scared about induction...or c-section more than a natural way. (All of them are scarry actually). Perhaps the scares made me more sensitive in facing daily life... I feel really emotional and easily moody

We will see on next thursday´s appointment....  we love & miss you, my Junior

2006-05-12  (38 weeks)
8 days remaining.... will it happen? (Friday, 12 May 2006)

Yesterday My husband and I went to doctor for regular check-up. Again NST test was done, baby condition is okay with heart rate around 120-150. His BPD 9.71cms, weight 3.2 kgs. The most exciting part is that we could see his face  which according to doctor : chin is just like his father, while eyes are like me  ( ugh, I have almond eyes which I am not proud of actually ) However, my sweet junior is ´mixed production´ from Turkish papa and Chinese mama hehe... We will see how he will looklike when he is born. The most important is his health and perfect body functions. God bless my Junior, please...

The bad news from the examination was my cervix is still fully closed . Yea, It´s my first time internal exam, and it´s hurt ...Perhaps I was scared and nervous when doctor did that. Also the constraction printed report did not show strong constractions at all...even too mild for 38weeks pregnancy.  So it seems my Junior will come later than due date???

Once I ever read in one website that the pregnant mothers who are scares and have nervous thoughts, probably could make the openness of cervix or dilation be late..... I must relax myself  more then....

2006-05-10  (38 weeks)
Officially 10days remaining (Wednesday, 10 May 2006)

Yah...my due date is coming closer, but I have not experienced mucus-plug, long constactions, pelvic-pressure (sign of baby has dropped?), or other conditions which shown the labor is near yet... Why? 10 days is very near time of labor, isn´t it? Or perhaps the baby would be staying longer time? Oh I hope not...

Come on my Junior... everybody is missing you. Your Dede and Babaanne even ´inspected´ your progress. Your Hala, Uncle Win, Aunt Len are also curious and excited of your coming. Will you come on your due-date..or..?

I read  an information in today´s pregnancy calender:  Your membranes (amniotic sac) may rupture, creating a rush or constant trickle of fluid. Call your healthcare provider right away if you suspect that your water has broken. Some women never experience the bag of waters breaking until the baby crowns, and others have their waters broken by their doctors. Which group I will be in? I wondered...

Btw my sweet Junior, yesterday mama bought you a cute sailor clothe. Yea it´s really very cute... I am sure you will look wonderful in that.

We love and  miss you my Volkan baby . Anyway...you can go out anytime . God will make all things beautiful in its time. I must keep on remembering that . Yea.. sorry for my impatience.

2006-05-08  (38 weeks)
Week 38??!!

Yea...my Junior has been 38 weeks now. Lets see what is going on with you inside:

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOU
Your baby is truly "full term" and could really arrive at any time!
Around this time, you may "lose" your mucus plug. It can look like thick, slippery brown discharge or an actual "plug." Some women never experience this. For others, it may occur just before labor, or any time in the last month of pregnancy.
Remember to keep track of your little one's movements and call your practitioner if you notice any drop in frequency or change in the pattern.

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR BABY
During the next two weeks your baby will gain weight, as fat is stored to help maintain body temperature and glucose levels. Your baby might still have vernix (that creamy coating that protects the skin), but it is mostly confined to skin creases and folds and the back and neck. Your baby has a firm grasp reflex now. If a light is shown on your belly, your baby will now turn towards it. This is called the "orienting response."
Your baby may weigh six to six and one half pounds at this point or he or she may weigh eight pounds or more! At around 18 1/2 inches long, he or she would look very well developed if born today. Your baby would not need any special care at this point.
The "lanugo" or fine downy hair that covered most of your baby's body in the second trimester is mostly gone now, or present only on the upper back and shoulders.

Yeah...not much thing happened today, my junior. But your babaanne came to visit and asked when you would go out. She seems impatient to see her first grandchild.

This thursday your mama would have appointment with doctor again...So far everything is fine with us. Amniotic fluid is normal, your weight is normal (doctor thought it seemed the labor would be easy. I really hope so)  Thanks God & thanks to you. Hopefully this ´fine condition´´ will be remaining till your birth. Yah.. we ll see .

Meawhile... uh stretch mark at my belly is shown up recently, especially around belly button.... Whereas, I have been using almond creme since early pregnancy.

Love and miss you so my junior

2006-05-07  (37 weeks)
13days remaining (Sunday,07 May 2006)

Dear my Junior,

Today is your parents 6th ´meeting anniversary´... yea.. and you are our ´first production´ (kidding, my junior). It´s a nice softshiny day with breeze.. your mama´s favourite weather

Ah, yesterday during NST you did great . You were very active till nurse told that it seemed you were playing soccer. Doctor said though you had been head down but your position hasnot dropped to pubical area yet. So....it may need how many weeks more to hold you in my arms...?

We love & miss you our baby boy

2006-05-05  (37 weeks)
15days remaining (Friday, 5 May 2006)

The doctor appointment´s schedule was changed to be tomorrow. Hopefully everything is okay.

Last night I felt a bunch of ´wierd constractions´ and my feeling is in between excited and nervous. Yea, I am expecting my baby boy to come earlier than due date... we´ll see how´s check-up result tomorrow.

My condition generally is fine, though I feel more short of breath, ´heavy´(I couldn´t stand up for long time.. my feet are felt weak), more trips to toilet in the nites and ...more sleepy.

My baby keep on moving actively, especially in the nites. Yea... wish everything will be okay.

We love & miss you my Junior

2006-05-01  (37 weeks)
19days remaining (Monday, 01 May 2006)

FULL TERM MY JUNIOR... COME COME COME... WELCOME

What is happening with us now in this 37th week, my Junior?

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOU
Congratulations! Even though you are about three weeks from your due date, if your baby weighs over five and one half pounds and you finish the 37th week, your baby is considered "full term." In most cases, nothing will be done to stop your labor once it starts.
You may be counting the days until your baby's official due date. Remember that only about five percent of babies are born on their due date -- including those with a due date determined by ultrasound! Don't set yourself up for disappointment by concentrating heavily on the "magic" day.
If you are having your first baby your baby may have "dropped" into your pelvis. The process of engagement or "lightening" in a woman who has already given birth is a phenomenon usually reserved for labor. True engagement is the fixing of the fetal presenting part -- usually the head -- at the level of the mid pelvis, or at the level of the ischial spines.

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR BABY
Gaining one half to one ounce each day, your baby is growing rapidly. Most babies are larger than five pounds, eight ounces now and have enough fat stores to keep their temperature stable in the extrauterine environment.

Yea, in one side I feel excited, curious and happy to think you will be with us in this month. In other side, I am worried and scared, especially related with labor process will be. I hope everything will be going fine for all of us.

Yesterday I felt some contractions ´down there´. It´s wierd sensation, not painful but seems like weak electric shocks (  I couldn´t describe the real sensation perfectly sorry). Your papa worried if the contractions hurted me.

Also, yeah... I have been having  big sleeping problem . It´s so difficult to adjust sleeping position without making me shortbreathing, cramping or back (joints) aching. Additional sleeping time in mornings made me better but also created uncomfortable feeling since I am actually a ´morning person´.... Yah... A little bit more...

This thursday I will be having doctor´s appointment. Perhaps the internal check will be done??? I never had it before at all and ever hoped it´s no need to have it... But to read journals here that internal examinations are done to get information how much percentage of uterus´effacement and centimeter of cervix´s dilation, make me give-up the hope

Uh, sorry to complain alot... I should be happy that the little wonderful creature will be here very soon. We love and miss you, Volkan Kıvanç Akyol

23 days remaining (Thursday, 27 April 2006)
Today we (My husband, my mother´s husband and I )  went to doctor for regular appointment (usg) and NST. The usg result is: the baby position is dropping/engaged, so it´s possible to deliver vaginally .

Heya my Junior.....  Two thumb up for you my baby Boy. Thanks alot for turning your head down. AFERİN!  Btw, your weight is 2899grams and BPD 8.79cm. From monitor, doctor showed your mama that your feet and hands are at my right side (you are facing right now I got why the movements mostly are on my right belly). We also could see your spine clearly . We wanted to see your face, but....you seemed ashamed since your hands cover your face. Ah my cute boy. Then, doctor ´took a shoot´ of your foot finger while commenting ´beautiful foot´ heheh...  Another info, doctor said the amniotic fluid is normal. Everything seems to go on fine.

Meanwhile, NST result actually is also okay, it´s 130-140 (normal) and 160-170(maximum) shown on machine but since the printed paper was not clear  (there is blank part), doctor asked for next week repeat NST.

Most welcome my baby boy (ouch... you are moving alot when your mama is typing this journal). Hopefully, everything will keep on going fine. God bless you. We love and miss you

2006-04-24  (36 weeks)
26days remaining (24 April 2006)

Time is so closed to end of pregnancy.... I feel so abit scarry.. since I have planned to have natural labor. I am not a brave person actually...but I really want to awake and ´witness´ how my Junior comes to the world. I believe God will give me strength to cope with the scares etc.

Let´s see what is happening with me and baby in this 36th week:

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOU
Welcome to the last month of your pregnancy. You may find it very hard to get in a comfortable position! Sleeping on your side with one or two pillows between your legs and one at your back may be comforting. If you have difficulty sleeping, try drinking warm milk, chicken broth or "sleepy time tea." And then, just as you get to sleep, you might need to get up again ... to use the bathroom.
You may have your first internal exam to see if your cervix has softened, thinned (effaced), dilated, or if your baby's head is dipping into your pelvis. Keep in mind that many women go to full term despite total effacement, a centimeter or two of dilatation and a fully engaged fetal head. Likewise, a woman whose cervix is "long, thick and closed" may give birth the next day.

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR BABY
Your baby weighs about 5 to 5 1/2 pounds and is approximately 16 1/2 to 17 inches in length. Even though your baby is gaining rapidly, you may find that your weight is beginning to stabilize. Some mothers even lose one to two pounds during the final month while others continue to gain about one pound per week

On 27 April  I will be having NST ....

What exactly is a non-stress test? Performed at a birth center or hospital, this procedure evaluates your baby's well being through an external fetal monitor.
The test lasts from 20 minutes to an hour and records fetal heart rate and movements. Two small monitors are placed on your abdomen, and information is relayed to an external monitoring machine. Your practitioner may suggest a non-stress test if you have experienced any of the following:
Gestational diabetes
High blood pressure
Diminishing fetal movement or a sudden increase in fetal movement followed by little movement
A post due-date pregnancy

I don´t have those ´experiences´but surely I´d like to have NST.  I am much curious of what is going on with my Sweet Junior insideYou are Most Welcome my Junior..... We love you.

2006-04-23  (35 weeks)
27days remaining ( Sunday, 23 April 2006 )

Just completely realized... I have been in ninth month pregnancy.

The Ninth Month (Gestational Weeks 33-38)
Baby's Growth
Your baby is practically ready to be born. A few last details to give him a great start in the world beyond your womb and he's on his way.
In this ninth month, your baby's biggest job is to continue to put on weight. He needs this extra weight to supply his energy demands during the first few days while he is waiting for your milk to come in. He is also working getting his lungs fully mature.
His downy hairs are being shed, and the vernix is wearing off his skin. The more lanugo hair and vernix a baby has at birth, the younger his gestational age. He may have long nails that need to be clipped right away. His eyes do have color, but it may change within the next six months.
His immune system is still immature, so he is receiving antibodies through the placenta, and after he is born he will get antibodies through your colostrum and milk.
At the end of the 38th week your baby will be around 14-15 inches from crown to rump and weigh about 6-8 pounds.

Mom's Changes
You may be feeling a little clumsy this month as your body prepares to stretch the pelvis for labor. The hormones that loosen the pelvis will loosen every joint in your body, so be careful.
You may also find it getting more difficult to sleep at night. Your large belly and your thoughts about the new baby can be too much to overcome, even when you are tired. Experiment with various sleeping positions and locations until you can get comfortable.
Your breasts may be swelling as they begin to fill with milk. Hormones secreted from the placenta trigger the milk production, however it will not get into full swing until after your baby is born.
Engagement of the baby in your pelvis (lightening) should make it a little easier to breathe, although it will put pressure on the pelvis.
Some women seem to have a nesting instinct at this point. They clean and re-clean the house, or stock up on foods for when the baby is born. It's ok to prepare, but don't wear yourself out.

I wondered what kind of life I will be having after my junior is born... To be a mother, the thing I,ve never imagined before... Yah, anyway life is going on.. I hope all good things for my Junior.

It´s a lazy day.. and my sleepiness keeps on . I am a kind of lucky...since I don´t experience swollen (hopefully never)...not much weight came to my body... yah ...  I wish I ll be lucky also to have smooth & easy labor... May I... God?

2006-04-17  (35 weeks)
33days remaining (Monday,17 April 2006)

Good morning my Junior

Mama changes my daily routine to get rid off boredom and prepare your labor. Today morning mama accompanied your papa to take a walk (to catch his service car). It´s really nice shiny morning with chill & fresh air. I miss u alot... We can have nice time at park near our flat when you are here

It´s been 35 weeks, lets see what is happening with us

Fetal Development:
The average sized baby is around five and a half pounds now! The fat accumulations plump up the arms and legs this week. The baby has gotten big enough to take up most of the uterus, and there's less room to move around. The testes have completed their descent in males.

Maternal Changes:
Your care provider may begin regular checks of your cervix some time in the next few weeks for signs of effacement and dilation and to see what position your baby is in. Your baby cannot pass through a normally closed cervix. The process of labor is the stretching, thinning (effacement) and opening (dilation) of your cervix to allow the baby to pass through. Your cervix is fully dilated when the opening measures 10 centimeters

We miss you alot my baby boy. Welcome.. welcome...welcome (from your kicks and movements, your papa guessed you have already been on head-down position. Hope his guess is correct, yea? We will learn on 27April).

34 days remaining ( Sunday, 16 April 2006)
Happy Easter everybody... May the remembrance of His ressurection gives you strength and peace in living day by day fully.

Dear My Junior ,

Last nite mama dreamt that you have been born. You look so cute, big (not fat) and tall... sleeping sweetly. Also, in the dream mama delivered you smoothly, easily and recovered fast. What a sweet dream...

Ah, yesterday your papa bought a guitar for mama. The seller discounted the price with saying ´for your baby´. You are my lucky charm my boy. Yup... I will sing you often my sweety.

Yah..it´s been almost due date. Weather is getting fine and warm. We miss you Volkan. By the way...have you been in your ´correct position´ to get out

2006-04-12  (34 weeks)
38 days remaining (Wednesday, 12 April 2006)

It´s getting difficult to have ´undisturbed´ sleep in the nights... I keep on praying my Junior will be head down soon (or may be he has turned his head down??? Since last nite, I feel several ´kicks´at my ribs and middle-up stomach . I really hope so)

I am counting the days... God, give me strength and patience please...

3 Sons are a heritage from the LORD,children a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth.

2006-04-11  (34 weeks)
39days remaining (Tuesday, 11 April 2006)

Calcium -calcium-calcium..... It´s said much needed in last trimester, but my doctor said it would cause constipation, so she asked me to stop calcium supplement consumption (which prescription was given by other doctor). Anyway, I keep on trying to fulfill it with milk products .

My Junior is very active today, sometimes I feel rather painful inside at ¨uterus´wall¨when he moves. I am afraid if he would feel hurt . My stomach also feels tight many times, seems it would blow-up. Braxton-Hicks contraction?

Days are running faster. I am much much more impatient to see him.... (and to ´return´my body to slim condition as I used to).

My God... bless and help me please...

2006-04-10  (34 weeks)
40 days remaining (Monday, 10 April 2006)

What a tiring day... even tired to wake up. What´s happening with me....???? Baby movements are still happening... short breathing is more. back pain is starting.

Let´s see what is happening with me and my Junior in the week 34:

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOU
With labor looming, you may be getting just a bit nervous -- especially if this is your first baby. Will you have a safe birth? Will the pain be more than you can handle? Will your labor drag on for hours, or will you even make it to the hospital in time?
Studies indicate that pain and length of labor may be related to the level of maternal anxiety about the process of giving birth. Physical stress can translate into uterine muscle tension which can make contractions more painful. Stress and anxiety also increase a substance in the blood called catecholamines, which work against your body's natural production of oxytocin. As a result, labor does not progress as quickly as it might otherwise
.

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR BABY
Your baby, weighing in at four pounds 11 ounces, and measuring 40 centimeters crown to rump or 16 inches, urinates nearly a pint a day. In fact, the urine, along with sweat and other fluids from the baby, help to make up the amniotic fluid. This amazing amniotic fluid completely replenishes itself every three hours!

6 weeks left... yea aware or not  I am getting more nervous, worry, excited etc... really mixed feelings. I keep on praying and wishing my baby´s head will be turning down. We´ll see on NST test which´s scheduled on 27 April 2006. God....help me please
(ssst dear readers -who I am sure most of them are new mommies or mommies to be-, is there any information what exercise to be done to make baby´s head turns down quickly...? Luv ya all...)

Dear my Junior

Your papa and I finally bought ´that´ crib... It´s soooooo cute. Surely it´s for you my baby boy

Uh mama is rather tired and sleepy now. It´s cold day and rain poured almost whole day.

We are missing you Volkan. You are most welcome anytime...(ssst have your head been turning down? Pleeeeaaasseeee)

2006-04-06  (33 weeks)
44days remaining (Thursday, 6 April 2006)

Breathing becomes something hard to do recently... especially when sleeping in the nites. Every position was tried to lessen short of breathing but useless.... Whereas my sleeping position has been like sitting position with many pillows supproting my head. That seemingly made me sleepy at noons.

Ah, my Junior...sorry for my complain... Yea..it´s only about 1.5months left...But yea.. I feel more nervous also now... God give me strength, please....

2006-04-05  (33 weeks)
45days remaining (Wednesday, 5 April 2006)

Dear My Junior,

It´s gloomy day and your mama is feeling tired. Yesterday we (your mama and your babaanne) spent long time to walk here and there in traditional market . It was nice but really took my energy.

Today, mama is planning to start packing hospital bag. I have a feeling your time is nearer... you are gonna come soon (Perhaps it was only my expectation. Yea.. mama feels short of breath much more . It´s better to carry you in my arms). I hope in next doctor´s appointment your head will have been dropping. Please my smart boy turn down your head and get ready. We are impatient to see-hug-kiss-etc you

Several cramps sometimes were felt.. but not much. Your movements felt much more.

With full of love

2006-04-03  (33 weeks)
47days remaining (Monday, 3 April 2006)

Dear my Junior

Today is a great shiny day. Mama and your babaanne ´exercised´ our feet... walking so long What a tiring day. Yea, I wish to deliver you fast, smooth and easy.

Ah, you are 33 weeks . Lets check what experts said about us:

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOU
At long last, you finally fall asleep, only to wake with leg cramps. Ouch! But there's no need to suffer night after night. Try these tips to help eliminate cramps:
Exercise helps! Get out and walk during your lunch hour.
Do not stand in the same position for a long period.
Increase your calcium intake through diet or supplements.
When lying down, keep your legs a bit elevated.
When a cramp comes on, flex your toes upward to relieve the spasm and use your hands to apply pressure to the affected muscle.

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR BABY
Your baby weighs approximately four pounds five ounces, and measures 40 centimeters crown to rump, or 15 3/4 inches. You may notice rhythmic movements across your belly now. This could mean your baby has a case of the hiccups.

My Junior... very soon I will be having you in my arms....hopefully Missing you so

48days remaining (Sunday, 2 April 2006)

Dear my Junior,

It´s a shiny sunday. Great day, weather is so fine. Your papa and I went to doctor for regular check. Your weight is 2254grams. Doctor showed me your stomach, kidney, testical & heart beat. What a strong heartbeat from my strong boy. She said that it´s rather difficult to examine you with current position.

You are still at horisontal position (against my vertical being) with head at right side of my stomach. I hope your head will be turning down soon, okay boy? Please help your mama, yea? Doctor advised me to sleep on my right side to ´help´ your head turning down faster due to gravitation.

Ah, I just realized, I didn´t write down the BPD (your head diameter??) check each month..

08 January 2006    : 5.28 cms  (weight 519grams)
08 February 2006  : 6.92 cms
08 march 2006       : 7.64 cms

This weekend your papa and I are arranging to have another usg to learn your position and weight.  Hopefully the doctor will be in charge this sunday. Yea.. sunday is the only day your papa could accompany your mama for checking at usual hospital. Last time checking early this month in other hospital was unsatisfying for mama

Meanwhile the weather is getting warmer. Yah people said your are a lucky baby since you will be born at spring-time.   God bless you my baby boy. I love you

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

51days remaining ( Thursday, 30 March 2006)

I feel weak and tired when woke in the morning. Perhaps it because recently every night I woke up many times, for peeing, drinking or adjusting pillow/sleeping position . I feel uncomfortable but... it´s just less than 8 weeks left. After that... I still have to wake up often cos of baby cries. I have forseen that . Anyway... my Junior is so worthy for me.

I got information from today´s pregnancy calender about premature labor i.e:

Here are her red flags for premature labor:

  • A feeling of general unease. Your body doesn’t feel quite right.
  • Lower back pain.
  • Excessive fatigue.
  • A tightening of the belly or a menstrual cramp feeling

Though I ever expected my baby would come earlier ( 7 May... the date when I first met my husband), but it´s not essential anymore.... I hope my Junior completely healthy.

In the morning the weather was gloomy, but afternoon it´s shiny. My mood is following the weather also. One bible verse that boosts my mood better is as below. Thanks God for everything...

I can do everything through HIM who gives me strength - Philippians 4:13-

52days remaining (Wednesday, 29 March 2006)

Dear my Junior,

Last nite I had sleeping problem... cos of heartburn??? Mama tried to sleep on left side always (or sometimes right side if I feel cramp).

I feel so sleepy today whereas your papa told me today eclipse will be happening (they said it just could be seen again 60 years later) and wanted you to experience also. Let mama have a nap for sometimes then... I love and miss you my Junior... I hope you are always fine inside.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

54days remaining (Monday, 27 March 2006)
What a lovely spring day. Sunshines greets us and the lightblue sky brightens our feeling. Thanks God for this beautiful day.

Today my Junior is at his 32 weeks Let me see what is going on with him according to information in website :  This week your baby is about 18½ inches in length and weighs close to 4 pounds. Your baby continues to fill out, gain weight and is taking up much of the available space in your uterus. From this point on your baby's weight will increase faster than his or her length. Your baby’s increased size makes his or her movements seem more pronounced and you may find it causes you some pain if kicked in the ribs. Your baby may be getting into position for birth, with his or her head down, although if your baby is still head up (or breech), there is still time for him or her to turn

Yea.. you are growing and growing.

1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him.
2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
3 “ Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you  -Matthew 5-

Dear My Junior,

Today mama did ´day light saving´with my watch . Yea quite new experience for me and it is weird to see the sky is still slightly bright at 8 p.m.

In the noon after going out to buy vegetables and fruits with your papa, we did long nap . What a relaxing nap ever. Yah, I miss you my Junior .

Cease-fire ... yah ... I should not ´build mountain over mount hill´... but did I build it? Hope everything will be getting better and sweeter.

Last nite I have strange dream. I got a baby... girl. In this early time of her, she likes to eat steak. Once I squeezed her without purpose, so I had to pump her... What a silly dream ever.  Yea Junior, you are my baby BOY. Though, gender doesn´t matter for me. Your papa had told mama in several occasions about your sister will be. Mama told your papa, we ll see... That depends on how easy/hard you would be delivered.

57 days remaining ( Friday, 24 March 2006)

Day is so moody as if it followed my condition. Things in my life seem mixed-up and confusing. I hope this silly condition didn´t influence my Junior .

My dear son, I know in this last trimester your brain is growing fastest...  DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, ranks high in importance during pregnancy for the mother and fetus. DHA is important for the development of brain, nerves and tissue, and a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that women given fish oil containing 1 gram of DHA daily versus women given a placebo from their 30th week extended their pregnancies by four days and gave birth to bigger babies. During the third trimester, when Baby's brain is developing, the need for DHA increases. Good sources include fish, eggs, shellfish, chicken livers, flaxseed oil, crab and beef liver. I eat egg almost everyday, hope it helps since mama doesn´t like fishes too much. Also livers of beef or chicken must be cooked as the food mama got used to when mama was in tropical country...to make me eat them.

I hope things will be brighter and clearer...  Take good care my baby boy... I love u

Dear My Junior

Weather is so fine , shiny with the fresh wind blows. Mama is here alone, rather lonely.. but mama is okay. How about you inside? You are an active boy so mama should not be worry, yea?

According to due date estimation, next two months you will be here. Yah... welcome my boy... I know my life will change a lot after you are here... I love you my son

61days remaining (Monday 20 March 2006)

Dear my Junior,

It´s shiny day. Mama is washing your clothes . Hey... you already have many clothes . But, surely mama wants to add more clothes for you, my sunshine (  heheh... you are moving hard inside... hey recently your movements are stronger.. sometimes mama felt like a punch in stomach)

Okay, what is growing in this 31 weeks according to the information mama used to read:

This week of pregnancy, your baby is about 18 inches in length and weighs almost 3½ pounds. Your baby's lungs and digestive tract are almost fully developed, although they are still continuing to mature. Each and every week your baby spends in the womb are important so he or she will be able to breath unassisted after birth more easily. Your baby’s sexual organs continue to grow and develop. If your baby is a boy, his testicles are descending into the scrotum and if your baby is a girl, her clitoris is relatively prominent because it's not covered by the labia. Your baby’s skin is becoming more pinker, rather than red, because of more and more fat layers building up underneath.

Hmmm... you are big enough. Mama wonderered if you still could do acrobatic movements freely . Not enough space....  so.... get out quickly my boy .

68days remaining (Monday, 13 March 2006)
It´s 30 weeks  ! Waw...only about 10 weeks left... my feeling is mixed . Let me see what happen in this week:

from http://pregnancydaily.com/cgi-bin/duedatecalc.cgi?page-212   :  At 30 weeks, what are the chances of turning a breech baby? "Fetal movement occurs during the entire pregnancy, and as the baby gets larger and longer, his/her movements change," says Certified Nurse-Midwife Kathy Loebel. "At 30 weeks gestation, you have every good reason to believe that your baby will turn and be head down (cephalic) by 36 weeks. After 36 weeks, most babies are in the position they will be for birth. At this time, however, 3.0 to 3.5 percent of all babies remain breech."

from  http://www.pregnancyguideonline.com/wk30.htm :   Fetal Development:  Our little one is nearly three pounds already and growing like a weed. The early lanugo is disappearing, the eyelids open and close, and the toenails are growing. The bone marrow is now responsible for red blood cell production.
Maternal Changes
The best sleeping position for a pregnant woman is on her left side. Your aorta and vena cava are slightly to the right of the center of your back, so laying/sleeping on your left side as much as possible ensures an unobstructed blood flow to your organs and extremities. You may be having some trouble sleeping now. Try one of the many maternity pillows or full-body pillows on the market. Sleeping in a recliner chair might also help, especially when the heartburn gets nasty

Yea...my problem now is about sleeping. It´s rather difficult to keep sleeping on left side . I have to adjust pillows several times to make my body abit more comfortable... . Besides, I found I got sweaty during sleeping and short of breath. Waw.. what a struggle . But I know ´what´ I am struggling for .

My Junior, My baby Volkan  , I love you . Enjoy your time in my belly  ...soon you will be facing ´the real world´. Don´t worry, I am here for you.

Dear my Junior

Mama is getting better from silly fever .

Btw about cord matter, we decided not to keep it  considering your father´s information (got from TV) that actually the cord is not much useful for yourself but for your siblings.

You move more also and that makes me happy and excited .

Uh your mama is getting much more sleepier and yesterday I really spent almost whole day to sleep. Today also... I am sleepy . Yah once u ´arrive´ I know ı will be sleeping less .

I love you my Junior

2006-03-11  (29 weeks)
70days remaining ( Sat, 11 March 2006)

My dearest Junior

Uh mama is getting sick, because yesterday and the day before mama got out full days and got much tired . But there is good news, I don´t have gestational diabetes  and during shopping and ´window shopping´, mama found some (additional) cute stuffs for you .

Yah, today mama will be completely resting to cure coughing and flu symptom.

This morning, you woke very early yea and your papa could feel you ´kicked´ him . That´s very funny and ... yea that´s my boy .

From pregnancy calender´s page today,  mama read if the (your) umbilical cord will be collected or stored because :

Cord blood contains special cells, called stem cells, which are genetically unique to your baby and related to your other family members. Stem cells are very valuable for use in therapies required to treat many serious diseases. Many parents have banked cord blood to take advantage of any current as well as future therapies that the stored stem cells may provide for their family. Collecting cord blood is completely painless; however, cord blood can only be collected immediately after your baby is born, so you do need to plan ahead

I will discuss with your papa about this matter . Actually mama wants to keep your umbilical cord... mama wants to have as many memories as possible about you.

I love and miss you my Junior .  Sometimes Mama still couldn´t believe that I will have a baby boy very soon . You are a miracle and I believe God gave you to me for special purpose

 Possibility gestational diabetes... aarrrrggghhh..

Last month (on 8 Feb 06) I had glucose screening test with result :  before: 122 mg/dl  then sugar liquid 50gr drink, after one hour it´s: 133 mg/dl, after two hour it´s 75 mg/dl.   Doctor ´worried´ so I was asked to have another test with three hour checking and 100gr liquid sugar intervention.

From today test, the result is : before: 80 mg/dl ; then after sugar 100gr intervention in one hour it became 138 mg/dl,  in 2 hours at 166 mg/dl and in three hours it became 134 mg/dl.  Comments from Laboratorium-guy : a bit high.  (Yea actually I should have done second test earlier

Consulted with another doctor, I was advised to meet dietician and it would be arranged soon once I will take care more for my eating habit.

I googled some info from internets and found some information:

from : http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/prenatalhealth/1483.html

What is the glucose tolerance test like?
For three days before the test, you'll be told to eat at least 150 grams of carbohydrate a day. If you eat a normal diet and have an extra piece of bread at each meal, you'll likely be getting enough carbs. For eight to 14 hours before the test, you can't eat or drink anything but sips of water (and you're not supposed to smoke or exercise either), so you'll want to schedule it for first thing in the morning.

When you arrive for the test, the technician will take a blood sample to measure your "fasting blood glucose level" and then ask you to drink either a more concentrated dose or a larger volume of the glucose solution. Then brace yourself for three more arm pricks, as your blood is tested every hour for the next three hours. The technician should alternate arms each time she draws your blood.

You'll definitely need something to distract you this time, because you'll have to stay seated in the waiting room between blood drawings. And bring something to eat right after your final blood sample is drawn because you'll probably be starving.

If one of the readings is abnormal, you may have to take another test later in your pregnancy. Or your practitioner may ask you to make some changes in your diet and exercise routine. If two or more of your readings are abnormal, you'll be diagnosed with gestational diabetes and you'll need to talk to your practitioner about a treatment plan. This chart shows the levels that the American Diabetes Association considers abnormal at each interval of the test:

81days remaining (tuesday,28 February 2006)
Ugh, its already end of February... time has been passing so fast. I have not prepared bag (to be taken to hospital) at all yet . Yea, it´s still almost 3 months but I guess it will be useful to start preparing bag.. while minimize tension and worry.

Today the day is moody with grey sky. I feel similar with that, and I am still thinking how to get rid off that feeling and keep my spirit high

Last night I felt painful at right part of my hips. My sleeping position (which follows expert´s instruction to sleep at left side)  is uncomfortable at all. In same time I am getting short of breath recently. Yea all symptoms matched with what I read once baby is growing.  My other ´symptom´ is that I am much more sleepier than usual .

I love u my Junior and ... I miss u as always

82days remaining (Mon, 27 Feb 2006)
February is almost over. Time is passing so fast. My feeling is mixed.. happy to realize the time to hold my junior in my arms is closer.... but also worry, how I will overcome the labor process and  if I could be a caring and patient mother ...

In this last trimester, my mood is still up-down. Yea, worry is the biggest part I feel almost daily. I read many blogs about labor, from the easiest one (that I really hope so) till the hardest one, and at the end, as written, every labor experience is unique. Every mother will experience differently.  I hope I could cope with my worry...

I wrote 82 days remaining in my journal title, though the day is not exact, especially after I read some journals here, baby could come earlier from, exact as, or later from due date... I just could keep on praying that my junior will be born healthy and safe.

In this 28 weeks, some sites mentions the baby developments a/f:

Your baby is growing and developing at an astonishing rate! Eyebrows and eyelashes are now present, and the hair on the head is growing. The eyelids open, and the eyes are completely formed. The body is getting plumper and rounder (weighs about 2 pounds) and is composed of around 2 to 3% body fat. Muscle tone is gradually improving. The lungs are capable of breathing air but if the baby is born now, it would struggle to properly breathe. Be sure to talk to your baby a lot because s/he can recognize your voice now!

also,

Your baby is almost 13 inches in length (crown-to-rump) and weighs almost 2½ pounds. Your baby already appears a lot like he or she will look at birth, although the skin is still fairly wrinkled caused by the constant immersion in amniotic fluid and small amount of fat underneath the skin. Your baby is capable of opening and closing his or her eyes and has fully-formed eyelashes to bat now. Your baby is growing physically stronger and his or her movements and grip are becoming stronger as well, due to your baby’s improving muscle tone. There’s still quite a bit of room in your womb and enough amniotic fluid to allow your baby to move freely. Response to sound grows more consistent and improves, as the network of nerves to your baby’s ears are complete.

I love u my Junior..

Another Shiny Thursday, 23 February 2006

Recently I sleep much more than usual... Feeling sleepier and lazier whereas outside the sun ´invites´ me to enjoy its warm shine...

My junior is very active inside, especially in the night  . I feel excited everytime he moved and his papa also sometimes approaches his head upon my belly to feel what´s going on inside .

I am really impatient to go doctor for next usg... yea it´s scheduled early march. I couldn´t wait to see my baby´s development .

Ah meanwhile my weight is added about 1.5kgs ... I guess I have gained about 9 -10 kgs during pregnancy  wheras it´s still almost 3 months more...

Uh I am sleepy again   but I must iron and tidy rooms abit.......yah    I miss my junior

Shiny Monday, 20 February 2006

Today the weather is really fine for winter season.... shiny with fresh air . My baby has been active since morning inside my belly . I feel funny, ticklish and happy

From one site I found  http://www.babyfit.com/pregnancy-your-week.asp?week=27#fit

Your Baby's Development This Week

Age of Fetus—25 weeks

This week marks the beginning of the 3rd trimester, which is a big step for you and the baby! Around this time the baby begins opening and closing its eyes which were fused shut for much of the pregnancy.

Other changes that are happening:

  • The baby's lungs are growing rapidly.
  • The baby's brain wave patterns are similar to a newborn at birth.
  • You should feel at least ten kicks within a two hour period ( 7-10pm is a very active period).

Baby's Size (head to rump) this week: 9.7 inches

15.25 inches (head to toes)

Weight: a little more than 2 lbs

The baby's size is about the length of a standard kitchen spatula.

Ha ha ha my baby is getting bigger.. and the room left inside narrower.... Hope everything is is okay

rainy saturday, 18 February 2006

Dear my Junior,

Today it´s raining and cloudy. I just realize u have been doing movements long time ago . This morning I feel happier to feel u moved stronger inside my belly. I miss to hold u in my arms...

Your mama has a bit problem with glucose level, hope next month check-up my glucose will be back to normal. Yea, yr mama ate too much chocolate recently so I am lessening it and all foods that can raise my glucose level.

The second trimester is almost over... and my excitement ( also worry) grows up. I wish and pray everything will be okay. Not much complain about my body.. u r really a good boy . Just feeling a bit painful on hips... yea that area is getting bigger and bigger .

Your babaanne has bought u few cute clothes for your early time. May be tomorrow if the weather is fine, your father and I will go to buy other needy things.

I love u my son and wish u r healthy completely....

sweet saturday, 11 February 2006
Today my day seems fine after having gloomy days. It is nice to feel fine .  I took warm shower longer than usual and this really relaxes my body.

Today is day no. 182 ( 98 days left):  ttp://www.pregnancyguideonline.com/wk26.htm  site  it´s written:                                                                                                                                  Fetal Development:  Your baby could weigh about two pounds now and be around 9 inches long (crown of the head to the rump). As the blood vessels in the lungs began last week, the air sacs in the lungs begin this week. The lungs begin to secrete surfactant which covers the inner lining of the air sacs which then allows the lungs to expand normally during breathing.
Besides the active lung growth, the brain kicks in with brain wave activity for the visual and auditory systems.

Btw last week I went to hospital for regular checking. All is normal except my glucose level was found slightly high than usual . Surely I have to diet (lessen carbohydrate, fat) to avoid gestational diabetes .  My weight is added 8 kgs already  . The doctor said baby is fine .  Yah.. I keep on praying and hoping my labor will be fine and the baby will be health and fine.  I remember and sing a song by Don Moen ´ God will make a way´ everytime I feel scared about further labor .

I love u, my junior  . I believe God has planned wonderful mission for u in this world

2006-02-06  (25 weeks)
Another snowy Monday, 6 February 2006

It´s snowing again whereas junior´s anaanne and I planned to go to post office to bring the packet (contains milk powder sent by yr ´big´ uncle Jan from Holland ). So here we are at home enjoying the warmness of heater.

Today junior has been 177 days. In one site it´s said : Your baby weighs one pound, nine ounces, and measures 22 centimeters crown-to-rump. Your baby's ears are fully functional now, and he or she may even blink in reaction to a loud noise. The brain is growing rapidly. If you could look inside your uterus, you'd see a well-proportioned head and body. Your baby's first meconium stool has been formed in the large intestine and will be excreted in the days following the birth. Some babies will pass some meconium in the amniotic fluid before the birth. This would require suctioning at the time of your baby's birth.

Recently, I experienced movements in my stomach.. but I still wonder if it´s junior´s movements or only gas. Yea... I often feel my stomach full of gas. Yah my sweet junior seemingly is moving once I am writing this journal . What made me not sure whether it´s junior´s movements or only gas is because when doctor demonstrated how the first kick would be, she gave a ´hard enough´sample on my stomach  with her fingers ha ha ha....  Anyway, hopefully on wednesday I could go to the doctor to see junior again... Almost a month from latest usg  and I am missing to see junior .

Ah btw, yesterday  anaanne handcarried the gift from Sukriye yenge ( I dunno how junior should call her . May be ´ikinci anaanne´??? ) . It´s a set of soft blanket with complete baby clothes in light blue and light yellow color. So sweet. ( Shhh yea.. everybody is expecting u.. , Junior . U know that yea ?)

Shiny saturday, 28 January 2006

It`s shiny day and the snow starts melting. But the weather is still cold. I stay at home, sit in front of computer, playing games . A bit bored but I am lazy to go out.

Hey, Junior, today your aunt Yasemin gave a gift for u. It`s a red car toy... cool. Thanks to yr hala, okay? Yr mama will keep this car till u `come`.

Yr uncle Windy just had chatted with yr mama. I miss my family in Indonesia. Thanks God all of us are fine though I heard there was earthquake in Lampung and Ambon. God.... please give strength to the families who are being left by their beloved ones....

My dear Junior, I pray that you will grow as good person who cares of humanity and have compassion and love for people... like Jesus  Christ or Mother Theresa... I love u my son.

Dear junior,

Today the snow is still pouring. Your papa doesnt go office and work at home instead . We played snow ball a bit this noon and yr mama likes a lot since its my first experience . I hope u enjoyed too .

Mama feels better and u r getting bigger yea. Mama`s belly seems to grow much bigger. A bit heavy of breathing but okay. I love u my junior .

snowy monday, 23 January 2006

Dear my sweet Junior,

Today is snowy raining and mama feels happy to see that. U know it is yr mama´s first time to see the snow raining like now . Yes, yr mama came from tropical country where there is only two seasons rainy and dry. One day when you grow mama would like to take u to visit there surely .

Mama still feels a bit blue, ´usual´ problem . I hope u don´t affect with this at all...

It´s day number 163 already (117 days remaining). Mama keeps on trying to eat healthy foods.. but a coffee is still . Yeah, a glass of coffee really boosts yr mama´s mood . Do u know when your grandma was pregnant ( yr mama in her ) she was used to craving for a coffee . Oops sorry, I don´t mean to excuse...

I love u my baby.. and wish u feel warm and relax inside .

Today I feel better though outside the sky is moody with rather snowy rain .

I hope my mood is getting better and fine soon. I don´t want to harm Junior´s feeling with my unstable mood .

I actually must start exercising my body  cos I dont want to gain too much weight. Yea I hope tomorrow I will be more diligent than today .

Ah... also your name may be changed . Your papa decided to put the name Kıvanç  (read: Kevanc, means pride/honour in positive way) and your Aunt Helen seemd to like the name too. Your mama ( thats me ) is still considering your name actually. I like ´V´letter as symbol of victory, that´s why I chose Volkan as your name will be. But anyway, we will see my son . Whatever name to be yours, I am proud and happy to have you and so is your papa.

2006-01-19  (22 weeks)
rainy thursday, 19 January 2006

Dear my Junior.

Mama still feel blue. Perhaps because recently I am rather naughty in comsuming foods . I drank coffee and tea more than usual whereas I have promised myself to minimize those beverages when u r inside still . I apologize, my Junior and trying to minimize again. I know the effect for u if I drink too much . As I read recently ´Tea and coffee consumption during pregnancy is a controversial subject. Consuming 300 milligrams or more of caffeine is considered heavy usage, and those women are 50 percent more likely to spontaneously abort. It also increases the risk of having a low birth weight baby, and a study published in the Archives of Disease in Childhood reported that children of women who consumed 400 milligrams a day were more than twice as likely to die of SIDS. Consuming large amounts doesn't mean you'll have problems, but it increases the risks. Three 5-ounce cups of coffee contain about 300 milligrams.´   I want to see u healthy, safe and sound when u come to the world...

Today is day number 159 ( 121 days remaining) . I am rather impatient to hold u in my arms .  It is raining outside and I am just sitting in front of computer (as I usually do), to check daily news, read and write emails for your uncle Win and other family,  play solitaire  , sometimes chat with your cousins David and Davina .

Actually mama still have things to do ... ironing clothes , etc. Okay junior, I hope u keep feeling warm inside though outside its cold. I love u .

moody monday, 16 January 2006

I have been feeling  moody since last night . I wish I can get rid off  this uncomfortable feeling soon.

Sometimes past time events haunted. I wish God to give me wisdom, as a wiser man said : to change what can be changed, to accept that can not be changed, and to know the difference..

Today is day number : 156 (124 days remaining). Expertise advised  "It is best if you sleep on your left or right side. Once the baby gets long and heavy enough when you lie on your back, the baby may compress one of the major blood vessels going to your heart and decrease blood flow to you and the baby. A small pillow or a body pillow placed behind your back may help prevent you from rolling on your back."

I hope I can follow the advise since I found ıt´s a bit difficult, cos my hips and joints recently are felt rather painful ( process of getting bigger to prepare for labor??). When I sleep at one side, I feel my leg cramp, especially the upper part leg. Ugh...

Anyway, I try to do the best I can.. for my junior, cos I love him so much

What a hard try to use laptop and try to copy paste information that caused my typing gone. Okay.. okay... let me repeat again what I have written....

Today I feel sleepy and tired. Yesterday I was out and got much cold. Weather was really bad with heavy rain... Yea, I missed warm condition during that moment a lot. What a sweet thought to think about warm home with a cup of choco milk on hand. Wish I can always give you a warm welcome home.. anytime you need, Junior.

What is day number for today? Hmm.. yea it is day 153 (127 days remaining). From website I read (I will not try to copy paste again after failed twicebetter I rewrite down) it is said that for fetal development the rapid grow is getting slower but the heart is stronger and the legs are reaching their relative proportions.

Meanwhile about maternal changes, my uterus will be 1/2 inch above belly button. I may experience swelling at ankles and feets. Emotionally, I may be feeling more stable and comfortable.

I wish everything will be okay . And....I am stilll waiting for your first kick, Junior.

A message for my little one...

Heya my sweet junior, What´s up ? Your mommy is more diligent today . And I always hope and pray that you will be growing safe and healthy.

Your father signed the guestbook and I found a message is so touching . I am sure you will be proud of him as I do...

Today is day 146 ( it´s said 134 days remaining... but I ever had hope that you would be born at 7 May, the first day your parents met . But beyond that... I believe God will make everything beautiful in its time.

5 January 2006 Thursday
It´s cold day and I feel blue . I am sorry my junior, I don´t mean to ´ínfluence´ you at all. I wish you will be a smart, happy, nice person .

Today is day number 145 with story:

The baby's legs may have grown to the point where they are now more proportionate to the body. He may be about 10 inches long — about half as long as he will be at birth.

Back problems are the most commonly reported discomforts of pregnancy. The reasons for this are many. Changes in posture (due to a heavier "front load"), weak, overstretched abdominal muscles and hormonal relaxation of the back and pelvic joints and ligaments can all lead to back discomfort.

The best defense is a strong back prior to pregnancy. Avoiding excessive weight gain and staying physically fit during pregnancy can also help. If you experience back discomfort during pregnancy, discuss this with your healthcare provider. After an evaluation, she or he may recommend a "belly bra" or an abdominal support garment or hosiery, exercises (especially the pelvic rock) and/or a pregnancy massage.

I don´t have that kind of problem, thanks God . My problem is to keep my diligent level high.  I love you, junior  have good rest inside my stomach, please .

Wednesday 4 January 2006
Today is nice day, a bit shiny in a breeze air. I just had finished dishes matter . My baby seems relax in my stomach. It´s a lazy day  uh uh but I don´t want to be  a lazy mom .

In today´s calender it is said I am already at day number 144  with explanation : The baby already has a strong grip, and might hold onto the umbilical cord (which can easily withstand this pressure).

The Beginning

Hoorraaayy this is our first family website.

Finally, the first step to write and keep on writing is there. My beloved husband activated this website today. The story was like this: One day, my sweet baby boy was sick (coughing and influenza). My mother in law told me that it was not a serious sickness. But I was worry so, I browsed some baby´s care websites to ensure the sickness was very common and usual since Volkan has been coughing for almost  a week. While keeping on searching, I wondered if I can summarize my experiences as a mother ( very unexperience mother) in some blogs to be read by others. Who knows this can help other people. Then the idea was being enriched with so many if.. as, if I can write down Volkan´s growth experiences, my personal experiences, and etc.

I told my husband - who is a computer guy-  about the idea without expecting so much since I know he is busy already in office. Who could guess that he directly informed that he has domain name and activated this. Thank you my great husband.

Here it is now, the beginning of my writing. God bless.
